REGIONS
The Coast of Contrasts (La cote des Contrastes).
The tourist region of the Coast of Contrasts extends all along Madagascar’s
south-eastern coast. To the North, it includes the "Coast
of Spices" including such areas as Farafangana,
Manakara and Mananjary. In the south, it includes the tourist town of Fort-Dauphin. The Coast of Contrasts
owes its name, in particular, to its advantageous climatic
conditions which offer diversified and contrasted landscapes
and vegetations. It offers, a broad range of activities:
balneal, ecotourism and cultural discovery...
- Fort Dauphin
- Réserve Pivée de Berenty - Around one-third of the tamarind gallery forest of Madagascar is found in the R éserve Piveée de Berenty and neighboring R éserve Piveée de Bealoka. Not as ecologically maintained as the rest of the reserve on the island... Berenty is good for those on a tight timeline.
- Parc National d'Andringitra - One of the most beautiful parks to walk and hike in Parc National d'Andringitra is a must see. Pic Imarivolanitra Madagascar's second highest peak is located in the park and open to those adventurous enough to make the climb.
- Parc National de Ranomafana - Parc National de Ranomafana was set up in 1986 to protect two species of lemurs, the golden bamboo lemur and the greater bamboo lemur. One of the best parks for travelers Ranomafana is spectacular for walking, hiking, and lemure spotting. However, due to its conservational nature only a small sector of the park is open to visitors.
